“Step into The Game”

FADE IN:

INT. SHOPPING DISTRICT - MID AFTERNOON

STEVEN (TURNIP) is walking through the shopping district with a girl. He is struggling to carry all the bags in his hands. The girl is leading the way in front of him. Every time she looks back at him, he carries the bags normally. Whenever she turns around, he’s straining. She spots a café.

GIRL

(pointing)

Let’s go in here!

(pulling STEVEN in)

STEVEN

(is flustered because of the contact)

O…okay…

(thinks in his head)

She likes me right? She wouldn’t touch me if she didn’t like me right?

The waiter walks towards them. He is obviously an alpha male. The girl has her eyes glued to him.

WAITER

What can I get you, miss?

GIRL

Hmm… I’m feeling a little hungry today so I’d like to try your steak, your signature salad, and would you please recommend me a drink too?

WAITER

Right away, gorgeous.

(begins to walk away)

STEVEN

W-wait…

WAITER

Yeah? Forgot about you, man.

GIRL

(stares at Steven and points)

He’s my friend. We’re friends.

STEVEN

I guess I’ll just have a water.

WAITER

I’ll be right back.

STEVEN

(Hesitates for a moment and then says)

I’ve known you for a while, and I… I was… wondering if you wanted to be more than just friends… Is this a date? This can be a date if you want this to be a date…

GIRL

Wait, what?

Mutters to herself: This is way too awkward…

(STEVEN stares)

I thought I made it clear to you what we were, sorry, I don’t want to be your girlfriend. It’s not you, it’s me…? Yeah, sorry, I gotta go.

GIRL gets out of her seat, grabs her bags and walks out of the restaurant.

STEVEN remains in his seat and stares at the table.

WAITER walks towards him with the food they ordered.

WAITER

Here’s your water. Did your girl just leave?

STEVEN

(looking up at the waiter)

No, she just went to use the bathroom.

WAITER

Yeah… okay. Here’s the bill by the way, can’t cancel your food.

STEVEN picks up the $60.00 bill, stares at it a little bit and then sighs.

DISSOLVE TO:

STEVEN’S ROOM

STEVEN’s room is very clean. He decoration is a poster of Biggie Smalls on the wall over his bed (which he is sitting on) that says ‘FUCK BITCHES GET MONEY.’ He is staring at it.

STEVEN’s friend KEVIN is playing around on the computer with a red bag on the floor next to him.

KEVIN

Well don’t feel bad about it… She was only a five out of ten anyway.

STEVEN

I don’t know. I thought I had a chance… Should’ve known better I never have a chance.

KEVIN grabs the red bag and walks over to STEVEN. He gives him a hug.

KEVIN

I know that feel bro.

(camera pans to a view reminiscent of the meme. They stay in that pose for a couple of seconds just as it starts to get kind of awkward.)

That’s why I got you this!

KEVIN opens up the bag to reveal a DVD titled: THE GAME.

Look, it even comes with a poster!

STEVEN

What is this?

KEVIN

I found out about this the other day. This guy here…

(opens up the poster and points at the guy on the poster)

…calls himself Mystery. He’s the greatest pick up artist in the world! This is what success looks like!

STEVEN

No way. He looks like an emo ostrich.

KEVIN

Look, watch this.

KEVIN walks over to the TV and inserts the videotape. Mystery appears on the screen.

MYSTERY

I’m MYSTERY, and this is my wingman STYLE. We are currently in front of one of L.A’s most exclusive clubs. Watch us go in and pick up the most exclusive women.

MYSTERY walks in and immediately begins to picks up a set of girls. He isolates the prettiest one and starts talking to her. (What he is saying is muffled.) By the end of the five-minute intro, he has her kissing him.

MYSTERY

(still has her in his arms, and suddenly turns towards the camera to say:)

And that’s how it’s done boys! Keep watching to learn the secrets of the trade.

Camera cuts back to our guys.

STEVEN is staring intently at the screen while KEVIN jumps up from the bed and starts screaming and yelling with his hands up.

KEVIN

FUCK YEAH!! We’re going to be like him soon!! Aren’t you excited??

STEVEN

I don’t know…

KEVIN

I did a little research and learned that there’s a full community of guys like him!! Don’t worry STEVEN were going to be winners in no time!

KEVIN keeps screaming.

Zoom up of STEVEN smiling for the first time.

Camera pans away from STEVEN’S face and zooms in on the poster of Biggie Smalls.

FADE OUT

THE END.

I decided to change the story board a bit because I thought the last one was a little too thin.

P1
One

A sky high view of a vast forest, there is a mountain near the edge; a dragon is flying and a zeppelin; a clear sky is over head; in the distance is a city.
Caption One: neiklot
Caption Two: a world where magic an technology coexist in harmony.

Two

A marker that looks like a house is shown; this is the symbol of the guild association; it is on a unique emblem, worn and old.
Caption One: But the world is also filled with many dangers, so guilds were created, allowing those with the skills and talent to join with others like them and get jobs. Many of them have achieved great prestige for their Valiant efforts, and others are more obscure and small.

Three

another emblem is shown, showing the head of a jester; is is a little greasy an rusty.
Caption One: This guild in particular, Wildcard, is great but small.
Caption Two: And they will soon be known as one of the greatest guilds in history.

One

The emblem showed in the previous page is shown on an old door; the rest of the place is dusty and crackling;
Caption One: But as of now, they’re a backwashed group of four, with the sudden addition of a fifth.

One

a boy walks along a path; he is wearing goggles, scarf, a katana , and is holding a flyer; he looks concerned and lost.
Bubble One: I hope I took the right path. The directions were pretty vague, but then again I’m new to this town after all.
Besides, They wouldn’t just make a trap for newcomers right?
Two

flyer, dusty and wrinkled, shows the WildCard symbol held in the boy’s hand.


Three

an old house is shown, it’s small and not at all attractive; there is a tree in the back, and on the side is a view of the sea and port; the windows are clean, with the silhouette of a person on the top window.
Bubble One: Huh. I guess the directions were right. Hope they’ll let me join.

One

boy opens the door, with a loud creak as it opens; house is dark, and it doesn’t seem that anyone is there.
Bubble One: Hello, the door was open. I’m here to join.

Two

Bubble: It seems we finally got one... Teheh.

another shadowy figure; short, wearing a hat, and has a strange grin on his face.
Bubble: I know, let’s introduce ourselves, eh?

Revised Character/Story Idea (Sharon)

This is Lucy.

Background

The story is set in a dystopian future. Lucy is a street kid from Detroit who was scouted by a spy organization in her late teens to become a spy/assassin. She excelled in a series of mission all over the world, until one in South America went horribly wrong, result in the deaths of many civilians and fellow agents. (I haven't decided yet if she was actually responsible or used as a scapegoat.) At the start of the story, Lucy has been incarcerated in harsh conditions for three years.

Story (For a 5-minute motion comic)

An agent and friend of Lucy's from their early training days has been caught and imprisoned by an enemy government. Lucy is given the chance to clear her record by recovering her friend, but only if she gets him out alive. She knows, as told in a flashback, that if she tries to escape, that she will be tracked down and killed. Wanting to get her life back, she accepts the assignment. Her past is revealed in a series of flashbacks as she prepares and starts off on her mission. She makes her way into the compound where her friend is kept, but find that he's already been killed. She's lost her opportunity to redeem herself with the organization, and so decides to take her chances and goes on the run.
